Birthplace: Los Gatos, California 1964

Inspired by his artist grandfather, Michael Provenza began drawing and painting at age nine. Born in 1964, this native of the Bay Area has won many awards in local and regional art competitions.

At an early age, Provenza developed a pointillist style in black and white, and then applied it to color, using color depth and positive and negative space to capture realistic images. Later, he became active in the computer arts, creating character animations and background environments for leading gaming companies.

Provenza’s painting style, characterized by pointillism and a distinctive use of color and light, incorporates traditional and contemporary art techniques. His passion has always been to paint landscapes that will bring viewers into the painting where they can become engaged with the diverse qualities of nature.
